Had a great time in Glasgow on thursday – Saw THE OCEAN and earthtone9 – Had great times with the band before and after the gig and great to catch up again. What a bunch of lovely guys they are! The live set was amazing and the place was packed. Also got to chat with the guys from THE OCEAN (we talked in french as they are from Switzerland). As you can imagine I did a lot of sticker bombing in the streets of Glasgow, and in the venues I went to that night (Stereo, Cathouse and Classic Grand). Fun times ! Looking forward to see earthtone9 again headlining the CHAOS on the COAST festival – 31st july 2011 > More info and trailer here >> CLICK
Slow Motion Replay are an Alternative Rock band from Edinburgh. I was happy to be involved with these guys who hired me to design the artwork for their first single which is out on June 24th 2011. (Gig at The Store, Edinburgh that night with support bands). Really friendly bunch of guys which I got to meet at one of their gigs last month – I wish them all the success with this first single !
You can find more about this band here (myspace) and here (facebook) – CHECK THEM OUT !!!
Last saturday night I went to The Banshee Labyrinth (Scotland’s most haunted pub) to check out the DEAD-FEST! I saw 4 bands : Hush (from Glasgow), Prelude to the Hunt (from Aberdeen), Citizens (from Glasgow) and Lavotchkin (from Newcastle). All played Hardcore/punk/sludge with the usual huge energy and all performed great sets. Thanks to Neil Thomas of DEAD DEAD DEAD music for the fest ! – Had a great time there with my dad Paul, Jason and Bruce (thanks for photo of the DOSE gang) – Check out photos of the gig here >> CLICK ! HAAAAAAAARRRRRRDDDDCOOOOOOOOORE!
Back in late 2008 I was contacted by a band from Edinburgh called Serpico – I designed the artwork for their 1st album called “Neon Wasteland’ (Click here to see). When I moved to Edinburgh a year ago, I got to meet up with them and they showed me a few good places to go out in the evening to see gigs and we had some great times. In early 2010 the band split up but still did a last gig opening for Skindred on 16th march 2010 at Studio 24. Mikey (singer) and Jonny (drummer) then moved down to London with Serpico and recruited new musicians. In the meantime the 3 ex-serpico members Oli (vocals/guitars), Ian (Bass) and Steve (guitars) had new plans and started a new band called A Ritual Spirit. They then found a talented drummer from Edinburgh called Dave to join them in their new musical adventures. Then was months and months of rehearsing in a dark room above an old Pub in south Edinburgh – I was asked to design their new logo and do a photo-shoot for a first auto-produced 4-track demo CD they were working on which was then released in September 2010. Now it’s time for them to get the show on the road and a first gig has been finally announced ! A RITUAL SPIRIT – Live – 6th January 2011 – Bannermans/Cowgate – Edinburgh – Doors 8pm -£4 – I’ll be there to check them out!
