1000 street art photos

WE DID IT ! Last year when I started sicker bombing my DOSEprod stickers all around my town and everywhere place I went to – I thought it would be great to get to make 1000 photos of this guerilla art project. VICTORY !!! 1000 photos have now been uploaded to the DOSEprodaganda photo gallery. How cool is this huh? What’s next then… Well let’s aim for a thousand more! All the photos have been taken in many different streets and places all around Scotland and England and also in many different countries (France, Mexico, China, USA, Germany, Spain…). I would like to thank the main DOSE-terrorists who helped me out and sent me many photos to complete this project : Bruce Cowie, Paul and Nat Hayles and Jason Corbett and of course thanks also to all the other persons who sent me one or two. Last week I went on a UK tour exploring some places and towns and to visit some friends and family. TOUR = Edinburgh > The Lake District > Blackpool > Bristol > Devon > Chester and back to Edinburgh. All the places I went to were really nice (except Blackpool). I really enjoyed going back to stay in Bristol – A town I really love and where I feel at home (I lived there for almost 2 years in the late nineties). Lots of great memories there and I got to see loads of great gigs and festivals and made some really good friends and I just remember lots of good times. That is were I started working in web design when it was all beginning (I worked on the intranet design for the Bristish Aerospace in Filton next to Bristol). I also saw Pitchshifter and it was at that Bristol gig where I got my first contact with the band and… then started the big collaboration. Bristol has become famous for a great street art scene which is extremely diverse and has many talented artists (with of course the famous BANKSY). Here are a few photos I did over the weekend in Bristol.

And you must check this out : The Bristol street art Project website aims to catalogue past and present work by collecting photographs and logging the location of these street art pieces. As the collection grows a unique picture of Bristol street art will emerge. >> CLICK HERE

The lovely new DOSE Dead-Head Sticker has just arrived so prepare the streets for some more sticker bombing and dozens and dozens of new photos to be uploaded to the DOSEprodaganda Flickr gallery. Thanks to La Stickerie for the prints and for mentioning the DOSEprod Flickr gallery in their latest newsletter !

No need to introduce you to the most famous street artist in the world (with Banksy) … Shepard Fairey ! The creator of the famous OBEY posters and stickers with “Andre the Giant Has a Posse” – The “OBEY” slogan was not only a parody of propaganda, but also a direct homage to the “OBEY” signs found in the 1988 cult classic film, They Live directed by John Carpenter. At the time (created in 1989) Fairey declared the campaign to be “an experiment in phenomenology.” He certainly created the street art now known as ‘Sticker bombing‘. I am a total fan of his work and style and this is another one of my favorite books which is part of my graphic design/illustration collection. Obey: Supply & Demand, The Art of Shepard Fairey – 20th Anniversary Edition showcase Fairey’s entire body of work, a massive retrospective covering 20 colorful years – 446 pages !! TOTALLY DOSE RECOMMENDED !
